I am so concerned about the safety of residents in and around Ellsworth. With the expansion of services near Highway 156 I have witnessed children on bicycle's trying to cross from the south of 140 to the northside in order to get to the grocery store along with pedestrian's trying to navigate the same. The other day I saw at least a dozen persons in a matter of hours walking the shoulder of 140 from Douglas going west to, I would imagine, Dairy Queen or the grocery store, etc. I fear it will only be a matter of time before a child or adult will be injured.
Please...having a walking trail in Krizek Park is all well and good; but having a safe walkway for residents to be able to enjoy walking to the grocery store, hospital or bank is more important..Ellsworth is just not pedestrian friendly.
