I’m writing this blog on behalf of every man, woman, and child of Ellsworth County. For the past three years, The ECMC Rural Health Clinic has sponsored community wide Breast Cancer Awareness Events. These awareness events have increased the number of mammograms at our facility by 300% and have diagnosed dozens of breast cancer cases….and SAVED LIVES!
Our events are sponsored, in large part, by our fundraising such as T-shirt sales, T-shirt sponsorships, and grant funding. However; this year, our grant funding was cut by 50%, making the need for fundraising that much more significant. Additionally, our T-shirt sales have decreased by 90%!
Events for 2012 include:
October 1, 2012: Luminated Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, 7:00 p.m. (Meeting place, East of Ellsworth Elementary School)
October 17, 2012: Breast Cancer Awareness Dinner, 6:00 p.m. Featured speaker, Dr. Christopher A. Rupe, Salina Surgical Center. Dr. Rupe will focus his discussion on genetics and breast cancer
We are asking for your support by purchasing our Breast Cancer Awareness T-shirt, “You’re Never Too Young to Fight Breast Cancer”. Proceeds go directly to these Ellsworth County Awareness Events which impact ALL people living in our community. Your support is very much needed.
Please contact Tara Rush at 785.472.5028, ext 537, to order shirts. T-shirts are $10.00 each for shirts sizes small to 1X and $12.00 each for shirts 2X and larger.
